Renovated Constanta Casino on Romania's Black Sea coast welcomes tourists for a revamped gaming experience

Romania's historic Constanta Casino, celebrated for its lavish Art Nouveau design, has reopened its doors to the public on May 21, 2025, after a remarkable restoration project that lasted approximately five years at a cost of €39.5 million. This much-anticipated reopening falls within the city's celebrations.

To celebrate this monumental occasion, visitors were greeted with a performance by the Madrigal Choir, with many expressing their delight at the magnificence of the refurbished building, deeming the five-year wait worthwhile. Emil Pantelimon, manager of the Madrigal - Marin Constantin Choir, expressed the choir's pride in being part of such a significant event.

Gabriel Puchiu, overseeing the rehabilitation works, highlighted the complexity and challenges of the project, attributing the building's renewed brilliance to it. Remarkably, despite initially targeting a 2022 completion date, the extensive structural work uncovered necessitated an extension beyond the initial deadline.

Originally constructed between 1904 and 1910 and designed by the Swiss architect Daniel Renard, the casino has served as a symbol of the Romanian seaside. It has the distinction of being a location in Francis Ford Coppola’s “Youth Without Youth.” Over time, though, the superb structure fell into disrepair and closed by 2014. The funding for restoration was finally secured in 2019.

As of next week, the local authorities plan to institute admission fees for the casino. The specific fee value remains to be determined by the Local Council. In the meantime, the casino doors stand open free of charge until Sunday, May 25, with prior registration online, from 10:00 to 17:30.

In the engaging atmosphere of Constanta's revitalized casino, one can now experience the thrill of casino-and-gambling, immersing in casino-games that carry the charm of its Art Nouveau design. This revival further cements Constanta's connection to the casino-culture, akin to the bustling casino scene in Las Vegas.

As the casino stretches its wings once more, eyes turn toward the future, with discussions of admission fees on the horizon, echoing the paid games in casino establishments worldwide. This renewed casino, with its rich history and striking restored beauty, comes to symbolize a perfect merging of Constanta's seaside elegance and the allure of casino games.
